Agricultural Mechanization Services (AMSECs)
Under this module, government is promoting the availability and distribution of small handheld machinery and equipment to smallholder farmers as well as distribution of tractors across the country. The machinery and equipment are for land preparation, cultivation, crop maintenance, harvesting and agro-processing. These machinery are to help strengthen agricultural production along the various value chains and to enhance the capacities of all stakeholders to handle, maintain and manage the agricultural operations effectively.
The Module seeks to:
- Promote and provide access of small hand-held machinery and equipment to smallholder farmers at subsidised prices
- Strengthen and expand agriculture mechanisation and services centre (AMSECs)
- Provide at least one mechanization centre for each district (to train machine operators and maintenance mechanics)
The Ministry is subsidising agricultural machinery to interested farmers who can apply to the Minister through their respective district department of agriculture to make purchases.
